The winners for the 1st annual Mauritius Business Awards were announced on the 30th of December 2020 at the awards ceremony which took place at the prestigious Agansana Balacava Resort. The Mauritius Business Awards ( MBA) is the first national business awards show of its kind to celebrate businesses, entrepreneurs, and inspirational figures within the business industry in Mauritius covering all industries including; hospitality, tourism, manufacturing, e-commerce, technology, healthcare, finance, and entertainment. All nominations and voting for the Mauritius Business Awards are driven by the consumers who are ultimately the driving force behind the success of any business. From August to November, a huge advertising campaign targeting over 750,000 consumers in Mauritius and 1.5 million worldwide included Mauritian diaspora in other countries, tourists who had visited Mauritius in the past, and entrepreneurs who had done business with Mauritius. Once the campaign was complete, an overwhelming response was received resulting in over 500,000 submissions in all 22 categories. The final nominations list which comprised of organisations and individuals with the highest submission was announced today. Over 150,000 consumers voted for the Mauritius Business Awards.
In the Best Supermarket category; Winner’s, LoLo Hyper, Super U go head to head with Dreamprice,Way Supermarket, Intermart, Jumbo, and King Savers. Super U came out victorious as winner of Best Supermarket
With the MBA’s being also used as a vehicle to promote Mauritius establishments worldwide, the category which receives a significant amount of nominations was the Best Luxury Hotel & Resort followed by the Best Restaurant category. In the Best Luxury Hotel & Resort, LUX Le Morne Resort, Constance Belle Mare Plage, Sugar Beach Mauritius, The Oberoi Beach Resort, Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort, St. Regis Mauritius,One&Only Le Saint Géran and Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa. Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita won in this category.
Accepting the award was Bernard Ramen, Director of Sales & Marketing for the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius who commented “2020 has been a challenging year for all especially the hotel/resorts industry and we accept this award on behalf of the whole team and we thank the voters and the Mauritius Business Awards for this boost of confidence going into 2021”
